Position: Lead Service Technician - 2nd Shift M-TH 12:30 p.m.-11:00 p.m.

Lead Service Technician – 2nd Shift (Mon‑Thu 12:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.)

Join Butler Machinery as a lead diesel service technician. We are looking for self‑motivated, hardworking, team‑oriented, customer‑driven professionals to support our service team across a four‑state region. Monday – Thursday 12:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. ($1.50 lead differential and $2.00 night differential). The position includes a strong focus on customer service, safety, and team collaboration.

Job Responsibilities
  • Assist with scheduling work in the shop and field.
  • Troubleshoot & repair all aspects of our product lines.
  • Charge out a large percentage of time to revenue work orders.
  • Immediately address any safety‑related issues in the shop.
  • Assist with contamination control procedures.
  • Assist technicians on field jobs with tooling, ordering parts and providing timely information.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workplace with orderly flow through the shop.
  • Handle special projects as requested by Service Advisors or Service Manager.
  • Assist with receiving and delivery of equipment in and out of the yard.
  • Track small tools, necessary repairs, general condition, and assess new tools that may be needed.
  • Work closely with trainees and technicians.
  • Assist in maintaining the work order process from open to close, including taking customer calls, troubleshooting on the phone, opening work orders, assigning technicians, reviewing, and closing orders after repair.
  • Make final inspection on all work leaving the service department.
  • Work without supervision.
  • Develop and enhance working relationships with customers and associates.
  • Understand the complete process of the service department.
  • Provide after‑hour field service when required.
  • Carry after‑hour emergency phone as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Technical degree in a mechanical related field or equivalent combination of business experience, training and/or education.
  • Three (3) years minimum mechanical experience with Caterpillar and AGCO preferred.
  • Experience includes all mechanical, hydraulic & electrical system knowledge and troubleshooting.
  • Familiar with time requirements to perform specific jobs.
  • Knowledge of the online DBS, BMTS, and SIS systems.
  • Consistently achieve set flat rates on work orders.
  • Strong communication, listening, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Leadership training preferred but not required.
  • Team oriented.
  • Service Ag, Truck and Heavy equipment customers.
  • Meet driver insurability standards.
  • Valid work authorization and able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
  • Trade‑specific tooling required.
