The Food Service Assistant is responsible for monitoring and recording proper temperature of food, setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area, preparing and serving food items, restocking food areas, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, receiving payment for food and beverages using a computerized register, and other related responsibilities. The role complies with Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service.

The assistant provides outstanding customer service, actively communicates with patrons and co‑workers, and establishes effective working relationships. The position requires maintaining quality control standards and may operate equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators and freezers. Preferably, the candidate displays experience working in the food industry and has the ability to work independently when necessary.

The role requires an understanding of food safety and sanitation processes, and the ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances.

• Operate food service equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, computerized cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators, and freezers.
• Follow HACCP guidelines and maintain quality control standards.
• Provide outstanding customer service and communicate effectively with patrons and co‑workers.
• Establish effective working relationships.
• Work independently when necessary.

• Minimum 16 years of age.
• Previous customer service experience, retail counting and reconciliation of money, and knowledge of food service preferred.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions.
• Basic math skills.
• On‑job training will be provided.
• Depending on location, Serv Safe may be required to be obtained within a designated time frame.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required depending on location requirements.
