Independent Living Specialist – Sioux Falls

Job Description: Independent Living Specialists work alongside people with disabilities to help them identify and access needed services.

Independent Living Choices is a 501c3 nonprofit that provides services to people with disabilities who make independence their choice. One of only 2 Centers for Independent Living in the state of South Dakota, we provide services to 50 counties and all 9 Tribal Nations.

Many of our employees have been with Independent Living Choices for a number of years. We prioritize work-life balance, provide our staff with autonomy, great benefits, and never lose sight of our mission; provide services to people with disabilities who make independence their choice.

Starting wage is between $17-$19 per hour, depending on qualifications. Health, vision, dental, 401k, 9+ paid holidays per year and 160+ hours of Paid Time Off annually. Additional benefits are available after the introductory period. Agency vehicles are provided for work-related travel.

No two days as an Independent Living Specialist will be the same. You ll spend time in the office, community, and in the homes of people you serve. This position requires some travel in a multi county area to provide services and the ability to assess an individual s needs in their home. In this position, you ll provide a variety of direct services, help people identify and access other resources, make referrals and more!

The right person will be self-motivated and passionate about helping others. Applicants must excel in problem solving, possess strong communication skills, and organizational skills. A bachelor’s degree in a human services or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred, but not required. Must possess a valid South Dakota driver’s license.
