Refrigeration Manager

Overview

A large-scale, modern food manufacturing facility is expanding operations and seeking an experienced Refrigeration (Ammonia) Manager to oversee the performance, safety, and reliability of its ammonia-based refrigeration and HVAC systems. This is an opportunity to join a new, high-capacity site during its startup phase and play a key role in building a strong technical and operational foundation. Relocation assistance is available.

• Oversee the safe operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of all plant ammonia refrigeration and HVAC systems.
• Lead and develop a team of supervisors and technicians, ensuring proper staffing, training, safety practices, and performance to meet production needs.
• Ensure full compliance with PSM, Haz Mat regulations, OSHA requirements, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and all applicable local, state, and federal safety and environmental standards.
• Direct maintenance activities including equipment installation, preventative maintenance programs, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Track and report key performance indicators related to safety, uptime, maintenance costs, and asset management, ensuring targets are met efficiently.
• Drive process optimization and cost-effective improvement strategies using Lean methodologies (e.g., TPM, TPS) and contribute to capital planning and project execution.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with 8+ years of relevant experience in industrial ammonia refrigeration maintenance management.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams and partnering cross-functionally with corporate or operational stakeholders.
• Strong technical expertise in ammonia refrigeration systems and Process Safety Management.
• Prior experience in food manufacturing and familiarity with USDA/FDA regulatory environments preferred.
• Professional certifications (e.g., CMRP, Six Sigma, Lean) are beneficial.
• Experience with SAP or similar CMMS tools is a plus.
