The Director of Business Technology and Innovation will shape how technology, data, and workflows come together across the firm to improve efficiency, drive smarter decisions, and position Banner for what is next. This leader will influence strategy, guide innovation, and help define the future of how work gets done.

Requirements

Strategic Innovation and Research and Development
  • Spearhead the research, testing, and adoption of emerging technologies (AI, Machine Learning, Digital Twins) to maintain the firm’s competitive advantage
  • Lead "Future of Work" initiatives, piloting new hardware and software workflows that position Banner as an industry innovator
  • Develop a technology roadmap that balances immediate production needs with long term visionary goals, ensuring the firm is prepared for industry disruption
  • Benchmark the firm’s innovation performance against industry standards and competitors
  • Identify and secure external partnerships and collaborations to enhance the company’s innovation capabilities
Data Integration and Workflow Management
  • Establish a comprehensive "Field to Finish" data protocol
  • Ensure that Survey data, VDC models, and GIS deliverables are fully compatible, eliminating data loss and rework during hand-offs between departments
  • Drive a unified data management strategy, ensuring that spatial data flows seamlessly from the field collection to the final deliverable
  • Define and track metrics that measure return on innovation investment, ensuring that new tools translate into tangible improvements
Business Integration and Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Business Development:
    Partner with the Marketing BD team to identify and articulate technical differentiators for proposals, positioning the firm’s technological capabilities, such as Digital Twins and Reality Capture as key competitive advantages to win new work
  • Finance/Accounting:
    Work with the Finance team to identify opportunities for automation and workflow modernization, utilizing technology to streamline reporting, reduce manual data entry, and improve the speed of financial analysis
  • Human Resources:
    Serves as a strategic technology partner to HR, ensuring tools, integrations, and data infrastructure effectively support workforce initiatives and organizational growth
IT Infrastructure and Systems Oversight
  • Oversee the IT department, ensuring that infrastructure, security, and hardware support both daily operations and high-performance innovation tasks
  • Manage IT budgets and vendor relationships, consolidating software licensing to eliminate waste while ensuring access to cutting-edge tools
  • Ensure IT systems are optimized for specialized AEC workflows
  • Identify and implement the proper deployment and use of new technologies and innovative practices to maximize their effectiveness
High-Level Technical Consulting
  • Serve as a senior technical advisor on projects
  • Maintain a connection to the work by consulting on high-value projects, ensuring the Director remains grounded in the practical realities of the firm’s deliverables
EOS Leadership and Accountability
  • Operate as a senior leader within Banner’s EOS framework, owning and advancing Rocks, scorecards, and key process documentation related to technology, data, and innovation initiatives
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s or associate degree in a related field, with a minimum of 10 plus years of AEC industry experience, with a proven track record of leadership and management
  • Comprehensive understanding of Surveying, VDC BIM standards, and Geospatial GIS architectures
