About the Job

The Behavioral Health Practicum Student is a team-based role requiring a broad understanding of human behavior and counseling theories. The successful candidate will work with diverse patient populations and presenting issues, necessitating a foundation in various treatment modalities.

Responsibilities

Assess patient needs

Develop treatment plans

Implement treatment interventions

Continuously assess patients’ progress and revise treatment plans and interventions accordingly

Document treatment sessions and update the interdisciplinary team on patient progress

Educate patient support members about patient issues and interventions

Refer patients for additional clinical services or specialists as needed

Stay current on emerging issues in the profession

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or another behavioral health science

Seeking internship or practicum placement within Sanford Behavioral Health as a degree requirement

No prior experience required; preference for individuals with experience serving persons with mental illness, substance use disorders, emotional disturbances, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disabilities
