- As the Cost Accountant, you are expected to maintain Grand Prairie’s Core Values in all communications with employees, visitors, and outside service providers.
The Cost Accountant is responsible for managing and analyzing the company’s cost structures. This position plays a key role in managing product costs, evaluating variances, support pricing, and manufacturing financial analysis. In addition, this role will be integral in budget preparation, monitoring operations performance and working with plant personnel to identify cost reduction opportunities.
Responsibilities- Analyze raw materials, labor, and overhead; identify waste; and recommend cost-saving measures.
- Collaborate with production leaders on costs – ensure accuracy of bills of materials, yield and labor
- Prepare standard cost reports, financial statements, variance analyses, and other financial reports for management review
- Develop and manage budgets, create revenue forecasts, and report on financial plans
- Oversee accounting and reporting of product margins to necessary departments
- Collaborate with appropriate departments on continuous cost improvement
- Collect, analyze, and validate data across multiple platforms to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Collaborate across multiple teams to advise on cost saving measures and financial literacy
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business financial goals and advise on data-driven solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
- 3-5 years’ experience in cost accounting, financial analysis, or related role
- Accounting in a food manufacturing environment a plus
- Experience working with ERP systems – Just Foods a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Office specifically Excel, Power BI a plus
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Working in varying temperatures if required to go on production floor
- Potential to travel between all locations within the Sioux Falls area
- Oversee, verify, and explain any deviation or variance with yield, labor, or bills of materials
- Capability of analyzing costs and providing reporting as needed to support the business
- Meticulous attention to detail to ensure financial accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to work with large datasets
- Carry a high level of integrity and professionalism
- Exceptional ability to think critically and make decisions based on data analysis
- Ability to manage your own time and honor deadlines
