About the Role

As a Distribution System Engineer, you’ll play a key role in designing, analyzing, and maintaining the electric distribution system that thousands depend on every day. This role blends engineering expertise, problem‑solving, technology, and collaboration — giving you the opportunity to contribute directly to system reliability, performance, and long‑term planning.

What You’ll Do
  • Design and support distribution system infrastructure to meet current and future load requirements.
  • Perform system studies, evaluate real‑world and modeled operating conditions, and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Prepare construction work plans, long‑range system plans, and detailed engineering studies aligned with Cooperative goals and industry standards.
  • Analyze system performance to support reliability improvements, capacity upgrades, and strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with field operations, engineering, technology, and member service teams to enhance grid performance and system resilience.
What You Bring Distribution System Engineer I
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred).
  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification preferred but not required.
  • Ability to translate technical information clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and data‑driven decision-making skills.
Distribution System Engineer II or Senior
  • Three (3) to seven (7) years of experience in electric utility engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain preferred but not required.
  • In‑depth knowledge of distribution system design, substations, and maintenance standards.
  • Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations, including NESC and RUS requirements.
