POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking K-5 Summer Program Instructors at Hayward, Discovery and JFK Elementary School's to lead and engage students in a dynamic, fun, and educational summer program. The instructor will be responsible for creating and implementing engaging lessons and activities for up to 25 children, ensuring a safe and structured environment, and following a daily schedule to provide a positive and enriching experience.

Additionally, the instructor will be responsible for managing classroom behaviors, preparing children for field trips, and safely escorting them on and off-site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement engaging lessons that promote learning, creativity, and fun for K-5 students.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety of all children at all times.
  • Effectively manage classroom behavior, using positive reinforcement and behavior management strategies.
  • Follow and implement the daily schedule, ensuring smooth transitions between activities.
  • Prepare children for field trips, including reviewing safety guidelines, assisting with necessary preparations, and ensuring children are ready to go.
  • Safely escort and supervise children on and off-site for field trips and program-related outings.
  • Encourage participation and engagement from all students while fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • Adapt activities and lessons to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Communicate effectively with program staff, parents, and guardians as needed.
  • Assist with program logistics, including setup, cleanup, and organization of materials.
  • Model professionalism and enthusiasm, setting a positive example for students.

Qualifications
  • Experience supervising and managing children for 2+ years.
  • Experience managing student behaviors in an educational, camp, or childcare setting.
  • Ability to create and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
  • Experience using positive behavior reinforcement techniques.
  • Passion for working with children and fostering a love for learning.
  • Ability to safely escort and manage groups of children during off-site activities.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Schedule & Compensation
  • Varying 9 hour shifts during the hours of 6:30am and 6pm with a 1 hour lunch break
  • Our programming runs from May 28th-August 19th. (Training dates to come prior to start of summer)
  • Starting at $16 for qualified candidates
