The Industrial Field Superintendent leads on‑site construction activities for water & wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, related civil/process infrastructure, and other related industrial facilities and projects. This position ensures that all work‑concrete, structural, mechanical, electrical, and process piping is executed safely, efficiently, and to specification. Working hand‑in‑hand with the Project Manager and field crews, the Superintendent is responsible for translating design intent into built systems that operate reliably for decades.
The role requires deep familiarity with heavy concrete structures, piping systems, equipment setting and alignment, and coordination with electrical/instrumentation trades. The Superintendent sets the tone for safety, quality, and teamwork, driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement on every site.
Construction Leadership & Planning
- Lead daily field operations on industrial, water, and wastewater projects ranging from $5M-$100M.
- Develop short‑interval schedules tied to commissioning milestones and process equipment deliveries.
- Coordinate excavation, shoring, structural concrete, process piping, and yard piping sequences to maintain flow paths and bypass requirements.
- Work with design engineers to interpret P&IDs, flow diagrams, and mechanical layouts.
- Manage equipment setting and precision alignment for clarifiers, blowers, pumps, mixers, and other treatment components.
- Oversee subcontractor scopes including electrical, I&C, HVAC, coatings, and specialty process suppliers.
Safety & Environmental Stewardship
- Lead a ‘Zero‑Injury’ culture – conduct daily Job Safety Analyses and weekly toolbox talks.
- Enforce confined‑space, trenching, rigging, and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures per OSHA 1926 Subpart Y.
- Coordinate environmental compliance including erosion control, dewatering, and discharge permitting.
Quality & Technical Control
- Implement quality control plans specific to structural concrete, coating systems, and pipe pressure testing.
- Verify correct installation of process piping materials (DIP, PVC, stainless, HDPE) and bolted or welded joints.
- Witness startup, testing, and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems alongside OEM reps.
- Maintain redlines and as‑builts reflecting actual field installation for owner turnover.
Communication & Coordination
- Conduct daily huddle/coordination meetings with foremen and subcontractors to align manpower and sequencing.
- Communicate proactively with Project Manager regarding schedule risks, material delays, and RFI responses.
- Collaborate closely with municipalities, engineers, and inspectors to ensure code and specification compliance.
- Maintain detailed daily reports tracking manpower, equipment hours, quantities placed, and safety observations.
Team & Culture
- Mentor field engineers, foremen, and craft workers; build a high‑performing, cohesive field team.
- Foster collaboration between self‑perform crews and trade partners.

- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
