General Purpose

The Retail Associate ensures customers have a positive shopping experience: greeting them with eye contact, smiles, and friendly welcoming; treating fellow associates with respect; following all best‑practice standards; maintaining a clean work area; and ensuring proper merchandise presentation.

Essential Functions
  • Practice safe behaviors; maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor; keep egress clear; report unsafe conditions.
  • Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and a “hello” at all times.
  • Assist customers—register trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to customer service calls; handle all customer issues courteously.
  • Represent and support the company brand fully.
  • Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, replenishing restroom supplies, and disinfecting high‑touch areas.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and organized.
  • Expedite receipt of new merchandise to the sales floor with urgency, merchandising per best practice and presentation guidelines.
  • Understand loss prevention programs and store protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty; safeguard confidential, cash, and credit card information.
  • Follow mark‑out‑of‑stock policies, properly process disposal, and notify leadership.
  • Follow cash and card transaction procedures; maintain accuracy when handling tenders.
  • Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity by executing best practices and minimizing steps.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
  • Effective communication with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly and respectful manner.
  • Basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements (ADA)
  • Use all store equipment including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
  • Stand, walk, and move around the store 100 % of the time.
  • Bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop regularly.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other supplies.
  • Special assignments may require other qualifications.
  • Stockroom shifts: push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
