Hours:
7pm-7am. Sign‑On Bonus: $10,000. Shift: 1900‑0700. FTE/Hours per pay period: 0.9. Department:
Intensive Care Unit – SLRMC.

- Assess the needs of patients and families, providing appropriate teaching and making referrals.
- Develop an individual plan of care using a collaborative approach with the patient/family and health care team.
- Promptly complete documentation to assure an accurate legal record of patient’s care.
- Deliver high‑quality care utilizing the nursing process while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills of the specialty required on the assigned unit in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care.
- Utilize a holistic approach considering biopsychosocial, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients and families served.
- Delegate and provide direction for other healthcare providers and hold them accountable for their involvement in the plan of care.
- Utilize critical thinking in making independent judgments and maintain responsibility and accountability for the knowledge of conditions of assigned patients.
- Assess and choose teaching strategies appropriate to the patient’s and their families’ age‑specific needs, culture, gender, readiness to learn, and level of comprehension.
- Demonstrate knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents, and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately.
- Completed an accredited nursing program and possess a valid nursing license for the state of Iowa.
- Valid nursing license.
- Basic Certified Life Support (BLS) certification prior to hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire, unless ADT Nurse and not part of code blue team.
- Obtain NIHSS education within 90 days of hire and maintain every two years thereafter. Complete six hours of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually.
- Familiarity with machines: pumps (IV, PCA, epidural, feeding), chest tubes, suction, IVs, pulse oximeter, ventilators, CRRT.
- Administrative: blood transfusion, ET, infection control, PT/OT, inhaler, order entry, BLS, ACLS certification of hire.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Successful completion of unit orientation and competencies.
- Effective communication skills.
