SPANISH INTERPRETER-PART TIME job at Siouxland Community Health Center. Sioux City, IA.

Part-time position

Hours: 2pm to 8pm, Monday through Thursday

• Fluency in verbal, reading and written bilingual communication skills – Spanish & English
• Basic computer and data entry skills
• Knowledge of cultural barriers to medical care and ability to diminish barriers on patients' and SCHC's behalf
• Knowledge of medical terminology in Spanish and in English
• High school diploma or GED
• Previous interpreting experience preferred

• Provide translation services and support non-English speaking patients and their families during clinical visits
• Work directly with medical staff to ensure accurate communication and understanding between patient and staff
• Assist patients in completing all necessary intake forms at initial visit, including demographic and medical history, and financial verification
• Assist social service worker and patient in completing the social service intake process
• Travel to local agencies or hospitals to provide interpreting services as needed
• These functions are not all inclusive
