Network Operations Technician

Premier Communications is seeking a Network Operations Technician to join our team. This behind-the-scenes role supports the configuration and integration of systems that deliver internet, telephone, and video services to customers in Northwest Iowa. The ideal candidate will be a strong troubleshooter, eager to learn, and ready to grow in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment. While the role emphasizes video and network operations, training will be provided to support a wide range of technologies over time.
This role focuses on supporting video delivery systems and network infrastructure. Responsibilities include monitoring and troubleshooting service platforms, assisting with network configurations, and handling customer support escalations. The position is primarily based in our central operations facility, with occasional travel for integration support and industry events. Cross‑training opportunities will be available to expand your expertise across Premier’s service platforms.

Essential Job Functions- Monitor the operation of video delivery systems and associated technologies.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs for hosted video services.
- Support and maintain network infrastructure including routers and switches.
- Coordinate with external vendors for technical support and issue resolution.
- Assist with system configurations and provisioning tasks.
- Support hardware and software updates as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation and inventory records.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and suggest improvements.
- Occasional overtime and travel may be required.
Skills and Abilities
- Understanding of computer networks and operating systems.
- Basic knowledge of network hardware and software.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
- Effective communication and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with Office
365 tools (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook). - Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
- Attention to detail and sound decision‑making.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- 2–4 years of experience in telecommunications, IT, or related fields.
- Hands‑on experience with network hardware is a plus.
- Experience with video delivery systems and IP networking is helpful but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, A+) are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. (25‑49%)
- Must be able to read computer screen and various reports (75‑100%)
- Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with employees and industry contacts (75‑100%)
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, lift, pull, and push (25‑49%)
- Must be able to write, type, and use phone system (75‑100%)
