Manufacturing Engineer

This opportunity is located within our Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company business, a global leader of mission-critical hardware and systems solutions including precision energetics systems and innovative explosive solutions.

EBAD is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer (ME) with project management experience working in a manufacturing environment. The ME position reports directly to the Product Engineering Lead (PEL).

• Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation (including manufacturing instructions, routings, process specifications and tooling)
• Solving manufacturing problems, investigating process failures and implementing corrective actions
• Interface with production personnel including operators, quality inspectors, and shop floor supervisors
• Generate content for Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Process 3P (Production Preparation Process), TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and PHA (Process Hazard Assessment)
• Implementation of lean manufacturing methodologies including standard work, point of use tooling, material presentation and process improvements
• Develop manufacturing cell layouts including tooling, machinery and equipment as needed.
• Create standard work and contribute to manufacturing planning
• Identify, lead, and implement Capital Expenditure (CAPEX/CAR) initiatives as related to manufacturing equipment, machinery and automated inspection equipment

• The successful candidate must have a BS/MS in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical engineering, industrial engineer, or manufacturing engineering or related manufacturing experience in multi-part mechanisms and mechanical assemblies. Additionally, it is desired that the candidate has experience in the following areas:
• 6+ years of hands‑on experience in manufacturing
• Project management skills with the ability to document, plan, and execute projects related to manufacturing equipment and process improvement
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems using formal problem‑solving tools.
• Demonstrated ability of implementing of Continuous Improvement & Lean Manufacturing methodologies
• Familiarity with the Aerospace & Defense industry, AS9100, ISO
  9001 or other heavily regulated industry
• In-depth understanding ERP/MRP planning systems.
• CAD, 3‑D modeling, assembly creation, drawings and GD&T in Solid Works
• Design of tooling and fixtures
• Design for Manufacturing methods and techniques
• MS Office proficiency - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio
• Knowledge of missile systems and launch vehicle mechanisms and systems.
• Enterprise/Manufacturing Resource Planning (ERP/MRP) systems.
• This position requires good shop floor presence, and motivation to become a process/machine subject matter expert.
• The manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for investigations and daily floor support.
