Overview
Activity and Residential Care Coordinator at a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility serving children and adolescents. This onsite role is based in Simpsonville, SC.
Responsibilities- Design and lead daily therapeutic, recreational, and enrichment activities that are developmentally appropriate, trauma-informed, and person-centered.
- Adapt activities to meet the needs of non-verbal, sensory-sensitive, or cognitively impaired children and adolescents.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that supports self-expression, emotional regulation, and social skill development.
- Maintain a monthly calendar of structured programming for each unit or age group and communicate with the Lead Therapist and Operations Manager to initiate daily programs and activities.
- Research new ideas for programs and activities, considering participants’ suggestions.
- Schedule all resident medical, dental, vision, and psychiatric appointments in collaboration with nursing and case management teams.
- Maintain accurate appointment logs and communicate schedules to relevant departments in a timely manner.
- Safely transport residents to and from off-site medical appointments and approved outings using agency vehicles; ensure supervision and support during transportation and appointment times.
- Conduct vehicle safety checks and maintain cleanliness and compliance with agency transportation policies.
- Complete and maintain documentation related to activity attendance, progress notes, incident reports, and appointment logs.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to report on resident participation and behavior during activities or appointments.
- High school diploma or GED;
Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children, adolescents, or adults in behavioral health, special education, group home, or residential care settings.
- Experience coordinating activities for youth with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, or intellectual disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Familiarity with non-verbal communication strategies (e.g., PECS, AAC devices).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and eligibility to drive company vehicles.
- Must complete mandatory training, including trauma-informed care, HIPAA, and mandated reporting, upon hire and annually thereafter.
