Role OverviewThe Supplier Quality Manager is responsible for maintaining and implementing the supplier aspects of the Quality Management System. You will evaluate issues, problem‑solve, and facilitate continuous improvements for quality issues and growth opportunities identified within our supply chain.
Responsibilities- Maintain the supplier aspects of the Quality Management System to ensure effective production, measurement, and continuous improvement.
- Work with internal team members, suppliers, and customers; participate in and lead cross‑functional teams.
- Collect data, establish facts, define problems, and draw valid conclusions for supply‑chain issues.
- Identify supplier projects that improve metrics; set goals and objectives for these projects.
- Address deficiencies in supplier performance; issue follow‑up reports and corrective action reports, ensuring closure of nonconformance issues.
- Utilize lean manufacturing, error proofing, and continuous improvement initiatives to support the supply chain.
- Communicate orally and in writing to present information and respond to questions from company members, suppliers, and customers.
- Ensure timely disposition of non‑conforming material; coordinate with Quality Engineering on inspection plans for receiving inspection and suppliers.
- Coordinate with suppliers for quality performance initiatives; track performance trends and conduct quality trend analysis from the supplier base, facilitating corrective actions as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with procedures and requirements outlined in the Supplier Quality Manual and supplier quality requirements; revise and implement changes as required.
- Participate in supplier reviews and provide input to Purchasing, Quality, and Engineering Departments regarding supplier quality and flow‑downs.
- Perform Supplier Quality System Initial Audits and Surveillance Audits as required.
- Manage Supplier Quality Engineering team members.
- Travel to suppliers (25–50%) including domestic and international as needed.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
- Knowledgeable of technical procedures, specifications, standards, and other engineering and manufacturing related documents.
- Thorough knowledge of quality inspection and quality engineering/assurance techniques, procedures, instruments, equipment, theories, principles and concepts.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, with experience implementing continuous improvement techniques for quality and manufacturing using Six Sigma methodologies (e.g., Kaizen, Lean, DMAIC) and tools (e.g., ANOVA, SPC, capability analysis, DOE, MSA, FMEA).
- Experience using standard business applications software and/or specialized data analysis tools.
- Preferably hold at least two of the following certifications: ISO Lead Auditor Certification, ASQ Certification, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt Certification, and/or ISO Internal Auditor Certification.
- Education requirement:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline. - 4–8 years of functional experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Assurance, or Quality Engineering.
- 3+ years of managerial experience.
