The Production Scheduler is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the execution of daily manufacturing activities to support production programs within assigned production cells. This role partners closely with the Shop Floor Supervisor and Production Planner to ensure effective logistics, coordination, and completion of all manufacturing tasks.
Key Responsibilities- Lead all work scheduling activities, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is available to support material and capacity planning
- Adjust schedules as needed in response to unplanned demand, forecast changes, production disruptions, inventory fluctuations, and customer priority shifts
- Review new sales orders and determine feasible delivery dates
- Develop and maintain production schedules and visual management boards for assigned production cells, clearly communicating production status
- Perform monthly operator and equipment capacity planning using MS Project and/or MS Excel
- Create and manage weekly work plans for assigned production cells to ensure steady workflow
- Lead daily gemba walk discussions, highlighting current status, flow blockers, and required support
- Present production performance metrics (SQDC and program status) to senior management as required
- Collaborate with Product Engineering, Production Planning, and Purchasing to align material flow with production execution
- Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities within production activities
- Present forward-looking capacity and demand outlook for assigned production cells at monthly SIOP meetings
- Coordinate manpower planning with the Production Manager to support annual backlog and forecasted production requirements
- Actively participate in team initiatives and present operational updates during Quarterly Operating Reviews
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination skills
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to motivate and work effectively with production teams in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and implementation preferred
