Job Description Summary
This position reports to the Associate Director of Clinical Support and supports the Specimen Management business unit. The role observes current clinical practice and recommends best‑practice process optimization in all aspects of clinical laboratory and nursing processes, providing clinical effectiveness and enhanced hospital operations. It is a field‑based position; most of the time is spent face‑to‑face interacting with BD customers. Excellent time management skills and travel up to 75% are required.

AboutThe Role
BD Life Sciences – Integrated Diagnostic Systems is an industry pioneer in evacuated blood collection systems and pre‑analytical improvement processes. Under the BD Vacutainer Brand, this unit provides specimen management and patient safety systems to hospitals and reference labs for patient identification and point‑of‑care data capture. Candidates in the Sacramento, Bay or Los Angeles area locations are preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Foster a continually evolving partnership between Specimen Management and customers in a clinical process advisory capacity.
- Maintain knowledge and expertise as product specialist for Specimen Management as product and guidelines evolve.
- Engage key opinion leaders within accounts to identify critical areas for improvement.
- Drive clear project goals and expectations to achieve process efficiency and department effectiveness.
- Ensure optimal workflow and product utilization.
- Facilitate project processes using best practices and financial analysis to achieve customer‑identified outcomes.
- Interview stakeholders and process owners to support process improvement recommendations.
- Lead and partner in change management activities associated with process improvement recommendations.
- Engage stakeholders to obtain support and buy‑in for process recommendations.
- Deliver presentations and reports to audiences including Nursing, Laboratory, Infection Prevention, Occupational Health, Pharmacy, Supply Chain, and Senior Hospital Management.
- Collaborate continuously to ensure ongoing improvement from projects.
- Excellent time management skills; travel up to 75%.
- Education in Life Sciences preferred with a BS/BA or equivalent work experience.
- Strong financial and analytical skills; experience with selling tools.
- Effective communication and presentation skills; basic knowledge of Hospital and Laboratory IT (LIS data).
- Minimum of 4–6 years’ experience and successful record in process improvement, best practices, and change management within the Medical Device/IVD industries.
- Sales and/or marketing experience in Medical Device/IVD industries.
- Ability to integrate projects within BDX Sales Organizations and Marketing Departments.
- Strong knowledge of health‑care trends; customer‑focused problem solving; strong rapport with Key Opinion Leaders.
- Recognized as a Clinical Expert with Standard of Care Expertise; proven analytical skills including problem solving, qualitative reasoning, and hypothetical‑driven consulting approaches.
- Ability to navigate the C‑Suite with the aid of the Strategic Customer Group; identify unmet Standards of Care; total consideration of all business opportunities.
- Decipher analytics to provide valuable outcomes; gain commitment for sustainable projects; accountable for total customer engagement; responsible for ongoing customer satisfaction.
- Negotiate at the C‑Suite level with a commitment to behavioral change; facilitate clear expectations; collaborate across teams with high emotional intelligence; draft detailed instructions, business correspondence, and memos; present information effectively.
