Overall Summary

We are seeking an experienced Test Department Manager to lead our Test and Integration team. This role involves defining and managing test strategies, overseeing the development of test systems, and ensuring the verification and validation of complex electronic systems. The ideal candidate will provide technical guidance, coordinate across departments, and manage the full lifecycle of test engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Management:
    Lead and mentor the Test Engineering team. Manage resources, schedules, and budgets for test projects. Coordinate with Operations and the Engineering teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage and seamless integration.
  • Test Strategy & Planning:
    Define and manage system test requirements and interfaces. Develop, review, and approve interface control documents (ICDs), system specifications, and comprehensive test plans (ATP, QTP).
  • Technical Oversight:
    Oversee the design and implementation of automated test equipment (ATE) and test setups using tools like Lab View and Matlab. Troubleshoot complex system‑level issues, including thermal, power, and mechanical discrepancies.
  • Project Execution:
    Lead, integration, verification, and validation efforts. Manage proposal efforts, including the generation of Justification of Cost/Bill of Materials (JCBs/BOMs) for test infrastructure.
  • Process Review:
    Conduct and lead major technical reviews, including System Requirements Reviews (SRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR).
Communication & Influence

Communicates with contacts within and outside of own department and may occasionally have responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.). Able to explain and interpret various processes and procedures to others within and outside the job area.

Education And Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience engineering, with significant exposure to leadership or management roles.
  • Experience with the testing of electrical circuitry.
  • Familiarity with thermal and mechanical structures and cooling systems related to test equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical Proficiency:
    Proficient in test automation and analysis tools such as Lab View and Matlab.
  • Extensive experience with electronics testing, including RF, Microwave, Servo Control, and Microprocessor‑based control systems.
  • Experience with Battery Management Systems (BMS), including controls, PCBs, and battery cells is highly desirable.
  • Standards:
    Working knowledge of DoD and Aerospace standards.
