Compensation: $49.51/hr.

Responsibilities- Maintains and repairs a wide range of heavy machinery and emergency service vehicles.
- Diagnoses malfunctions, rebuilds engines and power systems, and ensures equipment operates safely and efficiently.
- Requires advanced technical expertise, welding and fabrication skills, and a higher level of certification than Heavy Mechanic Level I.
- Performs maintenance of equipment including wheeled vehicles, track vehicles, engineer equipment, power generation, and material handling equipment.
- Accomplishes minor repairs and services as outlined in established technical manuals.
- Inspects and repairs brakes, suspension, wheels, hubs, and steering systems.
- Follows technical manuals, lube orders, wiring and hydraulic schematics for proper diagnosis and repair during annual services.
- Performs major repair jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, removing components, installing assemblies, and components.
- Maintains Operational Vehicle Maintenance schedules.
- Completes various reports (schedules, training, attendance, evaluations, employee documents, timekeeping, accident reports).
- Trains employees on tasks to ensure understanding of work assigned; monitors performance and time usage.
- Maintains professionalism in appearance and demeanor; coaches and mentors employees and resolves concerns respectfully.
- Monitors employee performance and time efficiency; records attendance and absences; notes potential call-back needs based on operations.
- High school Diploma/GED required.
- 5-8 years of experience as an automotive mechanic or closely related field (a combination of education and experience can be considered).
- Certifications supporting EVT LVL 2 Fire Apparatus and ARFF Vehicle Technician, including ASE (T-2 through T-7), EVT (F-1 through F-4 and A-1 through A-2).
- Knowledge of maintenance of military vehicles and equipment.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow technical manuals; ability to read and troubleshoot repairs on brakes, suspensions, wheels, hubs, and steering systems.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 70 pounds; may be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and perform repetitive motion for several hours.
- Work may require repetitive motion, lifting, kneeling, and walking; standing or sitting for long periods; climbing in/out of vehicles and stairs.
- Must have the perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods.
- A valid state driver s license is required with ability to obtain and maintain Tessera insurance coverage.
- Access to federal military installation requires REAL
-compliant driver s license or acceptable alternative (e.g., U.S. passport or military ) in accordance with REAL . Re: requirements for entry may apply; see internal policy. - Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. A background check and E-Verify will be conducted for this position.
