Silverdale Water District is seeking an experienced Electrician to join our Maintenance team. This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in District facilities. The role also provides support to the maintenance department, the public, and the District.

Salary range is $79,075.20 - $ annual, D.O.Q., plus benefits, E.O.E.

Education and Experience (Minimum Requirements)
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the job is required for this position.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License required.
  • Cross-connection Control Specialist Certification – to be obtained within two years.
  • WDM – Water Distribution Manager certifications - to be obtained within two years.
  • Ability to earn but not limited to First Aid/CPR Card, a Flagger Card, Confined space training, Forklift Certification, and continued water distribution certifications.
Special Requirements
  • A General Electrician License 01 from Washington State, with preference to experience with the electrical systems in water operations, telemetry systems, or other like infrastructure.
  • Residing within 30 minutes of the District is preferred.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to
  • Installs, inspects, maintains, and repairs electrical equipment necessary to power and control Water Department facilities such has – booster/supply pump stations, reservoirs, wells, control valves, large meters, SCADA equipment and other District facilities.
  • Works with District staff, and District consultants, identifies and schedules maintenance to the electrical systems.
  • Performs routine inspections of Water Departments electrical and SCADA systems.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills to diagnose electrical problems.
  • Practices skills in electrical theory and understanding of the NEC and applicable electrical codes.
  • Recognizes job procedures, rules, safety, policies, and procedures.
  • Read and understand electrical drawings and read and record measurements.
  • Install and/or maintain District equipment with the aid of electrical prints and manufacturer's instruction books.
  • Build electrical panels, run conduit, wiring and install systems.
  • Prepare and handle electrical permitting requirements.
  • Performs other work-related tasks, as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:

Knowledge of:

Advanced electrical concepts, theories, and relay protection schemes.

  • Electronic theory, standard electrical drawing code numbers, and basic mathematics.
  • Safety procedures when working near energized equipment.
  • Arc hazards.
  • Lock out Tag Out procedures.
  • Concepts, principles and operations of electrical protection and control equipment including relays and circuits, layout of electrical power generations plants.
  • Computer and associated SCADA software such as Wonderware.
  • Analog 4-20ma signal instrument devices.
  • PLC’s, HMI’s on many different devices.
  • Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) circuits.
  • Knowledge of safe working procedures and practices.
Skill in:
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair generator equipment.
  • Operate Multimeter, Amp Meter, Megohmmeter, Analog Signal Test Meter, Analog Signal Generator, Infrared Thermal Meter, Vibration Meter.
  • Analyze and resolve situations accurately and adapt an effective course of action.
  • Analyze and Document Submersible motors single and three phase and winding resistance measurements.
  • Effective communication, both written and oral, and interpersonal skills for interactions with coworkers, supervisors, and the general public.
  • Understand and retain new concepts and ideas.
  • Receive feedback and communicate thoughts clearly and professionally.
  • Work with hands to diagnose, disassemble and repair electrical related infrastructure and equipment.
  • Work alone or as part of a team to identify and repair problems in a safe and efficient manner.
