Tessera is seeking a detail‑oriented Maintenance Inspector to schedule and conduct inspections of facilities, equipment, and systems at Naval Base Kitsap, Bangor. This role ensures maintenance needs are identified early, safety standards are upheld, and all operations remain compliant with contractual, local, state, and federal regulations. The Maintenance Inspector will provide actionable recommendations, maintain accurate records, and support preventive maintenance programs to maximize efficiency and reliability.
Responsibilities- Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical) to identify maintenance needs and possible safety hazards.
- Evaluate condition of facilities and equipment and maintain accurate records of findings and recommended repairs.
- Collaborate with maintenance team members to develop and prioritize actionable maintenance and repair plans.
- Provide recommendations to maintenance shops and government officials for repairs, projected equipment repairs, replacement costs, and coordinate with other personnel.
- Review facility or system history utilizing reports, discuss current issues with the building officer, review computer/network generated work documents for outstanding work, and determine contractual requirements.
- Schedule and perform facility inspections in accordance with contractual requirements and government regulations.
- Assist in developing preventive maintenance schedules and programs to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as organization policies regarding health and safety standards.
- Provide detailed reports on inspection findings, outlining issues identified, corrective actions required, and timelines for resolution.
- Manage and track discrepancies and maintenance requests through a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies to continuously improve maintenance activities.
- Train and mentor junior maintenance staff on inspection techniques and safety protocols.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to minimize operational disruptions and ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- High school Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Facility Maintenance or related field.
- Strong understanding of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and maintenance practices.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to convey technical information clearly.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
- May be required to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and use repetitive motion for several hours.
- Work may require repetitive motion, reaching, lifting, kneeling, walking; standing or sitting for several hours; climbing vehicles and stairs.
- Must persevere under pressure for extended periods.
- A valid state driver’s license is required and ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
- Access to a federal military installation requires a REAL ‑compliant driver’s license, U.S. passport, or military accordance with the REAL .
- Must be able to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access. Background check and E‑Verify will be conducted.
