American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Cath Lab Pre/Post Recovery position requiring active WA or Compact RN licensure and a minimum of 2 years of admit/recovery experience.
Details- Acute care hospital setting in the Pacific Northwest, located on a brand new campus opened in December 2020
- Cath Lab Pre/Post Recovery unit with 23 total bays (16 beds, a radial lounge with 7 recovery lounge chairs)
- Common cases include admit and recovery for patients undergoing left and right heart caths, complex PCI, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, peripheral vascular, and hybrid/combined cases (AAA)
- Unit averages approximately 30 cases per day
- Daily staffing includes 16 RNs across various shifts; unit is led by 1 charge nurse
- EMR:
Epic;
Pyxis medication dispensing system in use - Recovery unit operates Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–9:30 PM; common shifts include 9:00 AM–5:30 PM, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM, and 1:00 PM–9:30 PM; shifts are negotiable
- Schedule is four 10-hour shifts per week
- On-call is required 4–7 days per month by sign-up; call hours are weekday 9:30 PM–5:00 AM, weekend days 5:00 AM–5:00 PM, and weekend nights 5:00 PM–5:00 AM; response time is 60 minutes (30 minutes preferred)
- Floating is not required except in emergency situations
- 13-week contract
- Active WA state or Compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses will not be accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS, and NIHSS; pending certifications will not be accepted
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior admit/recovery experience in a Cath Lab or Pre/Post Op setting required
- Proficiency with Epic EMR preferred
- A copy of driver's license is required for consideration
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- Responsibilities include pre-procedure admission and post-procedure recovery care for cardiac, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, and peripheral vascular patients
- Telemetry is centrally monitored in the Pre/Post area; ventilator management is not required
- 24/7 support available including cardiologist on call, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and a SWAT team for ultrasound-guided IV access
- Hospital-issued surgical attire is provided; no personal scrubs required
- On-call holiday coverage is required; otherwise holidays are off
- Orientation is less than one week for competent candidates
- Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- Travelers are welcome — position is driven by service expansion, not staff resignations
