Join Conifer Health Solutions as a Patient Access Representative II.

Job Summary

Responsible for scheduling, registration, pre‑admission and admission, reception, and discharge functions. Must obtain complete and accurate patient demographic information and employ compliant patient liability collection techniques before, during, and after the date of service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greeting patients following Conifer standards of care; provide world‑class customer service; complete full patient registration at point of service; adhere to financial and cash control policies and procedures; thoroughly explain and secure hospital and patient legal forms (e.g., advance directives, consent for treatment, EMTALA).
  • Scan PHI, create and file patient information packets/folders for upcoming hospital services; assist with scheduling diagnostic procedures.
  • Educate patients on financial liabilities and employ compliant collection techniques; perform cash reconciliation and secure payment entry per policies.
  • Secure medical necessity checks and verification; verify insurance, benefits, coverage and eligibility; complete assigned registration financial clearance work‑lists; obtain authorizations for scheduled and unscheduled services; coordinate post‑discharge care as needed.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Typing speed 35 wpm or greater.
  • Proficient with PC, printer, and related software.
  • Knowledge of function and relationships within hospital environment preferred.
  • Customer service skills and experience.
  • Ability to work in fast‑paced environment; receive and convey detailed information orally and in writing.
  • Understanding of third‑party payor requirements and compliance standards preferred.
  • Ability to work in at least two patient access service areas, including the Emergency Department.
  • Professional negotiation techniques for collecting money owed by patients/guarantors.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Interpret physician orders, medical terminology and insurance cards while maintaining Conifer standards of care.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 0‑1 year in a customer‑service role.
  • 0‑1 year of administrative experience in medical facility, health insurance or related area preferred.
  • Some college coursework preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit at computer terminal for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift/carry up to 25 lb.
  • Frequent standing, sitting and walking; occasionally push wheelchair.
Work Environment
  • Hospital administration; potential exposure to life‑threatening patient conditions.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be available to work hours and days as needed.
  • Resolve physician and patient issues; may experience extreme volumes and uncooperative patients.
  • Must obtain and provide confirmation of required vaccinations and screenings prior to employment.
Compensation
  • Pay: $17.44–$24.45 per hour.
  • Shift differentials $1.00–$2.50 per hour may be available.
  • Time and a half on observed holidays.
