Leisure World of Maryland Corporation (LWMC), the property management company for Leisure World of Maryland, is a private, age-restricted community comprised of 29 community associations representing over 5,600 homes and extensive Trust operations, located in Silver Spring, Maryland. We are seeking an Electrician (Journeymen) to work a full-time schedule for 40 hours per week.

Job OverviewThe Electrical Journeyman participates in the repair, installation, modification and maintenance of electrical wiring, electrical/electronic systems, circuits, fixtures and equipment within the Leisure World of Maryland community.
Responsibilities- Inspect, repair, install, modify and maintain electrical wiring, electrical/electronic systems, circuits, fixtures and equipment as applicable.
- Review blueprints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems to assess material and equipment needs.
- Identify required tools and special equipment for each job.
- Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems and equipment using testing instruments and equipment.
- Inspect electrical systems and components to evaluate condition, identify necessary repairs and recommend preventive maintenance as needed.
- Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical codes, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
- Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit breakers, panels, etc.
- Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
- Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit using measuring tools and appropriate equipment.
- Repair or recommend replacement of electrical appliances as needed.
- Detect and address needed repairs on buildings, grounds and equipment following established procedures.
- Request equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and ensure availability of materials.
- Keep customers’ property neat, clean, and protected during and after job completion.
- Transport tools, equipment and supplies as required to complete installations/repairs.
- Respond to emergency situations during and after hours to address safety concerns.
- Adhere to building codes, installation requirements and relevant regulations; ensure work meets standards.
- Maintain a clean, organized and stocked truck; document time spent on jobs and complete work orders accurately and on time.
- Prepare invoices for each job and collect payment as directed by office.
- Maintain daily job log of services performed, including type and cost of work.
- Communicate professionally with customers; ensure work orders are filled out and submitted within 24 hours of completion; verify customer satisfaction.
- On-call after regular business hours and weekends on a rotational basis to handle emergency maintenance and repairs.
- Follow safety procedures, wear appropriate PPE, and follow MSDS requirements; dispose of hazardous materials properly.

Principal Working RelationshipsIn addition to community residents, the Electrician’s principal working relationships are with LWMC employees, particularly those in the Physical Properties Department.
Licenses/Certification- Maryland Journeyman Electrician License
- Current valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- High School graduate or General Education degree (GED) required
- Documented proof of successful completion of a formal apprenticeship program with on-the-job training under a licensed master electrician, plus classroom instruction.
