About the Role

Aastha Adult Medical Day Care is seeking a reliable and organized Kitchen Coordinator to manage daily food preparation, distribution, and kitchen operations for our participants. This is a part‑time, in-person role ideal for someone with prior kitchen management experience who values cleanliness, food safety, and teamwork.

We provide compassionate, family‑centered care that promotes independence, meaningful engagement, friendships, and overall well‑being. Our mission is to create a supportive environment where participants feel valued, active, and cared for.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage daily food preparation and distribution to participants
  • Most meals are catered and delivered. Light food prep required: cutting fruits and vegetables, plating, portioning
  • Ensure all meals are served in correct portions according to guidelines
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary kitchen and serving area at all times
  • Clean and sanitise all equipment and surfaces in accordance with state and federal safety regulations
  • Take out trash and food waste daily
  • Maintain kitchen inventory and complete required state and federal food service documentation
  • Run occasional errands to local grocery stores for basic food items or supplies
  • Assist with non‑food‑related participant activities when needed
  • Provide Spanish–English translation support for participants as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of kitchen management or food service experience
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (required)
  • Ability to work day shifts (morning to early afternoon)
  • Must be clear of tuberculosis (TB clearance required)
  • Reliable transportation and ability to commute to Silver Spring, MD 20904
  • Comfortable working in an in‑person environment
