White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Director of Nursing for our Women’s Services departments who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. The Director of Women’s Services will report directly to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and is responsible for strategic leadership along with the administration in areas of patient care, education, safety and quality.
Women’s Health Services includes Labor and Delivery, Mother/Baby, and the NICU.
- Collaborate with administrators, physicians, managers and other providers to facilitate planning, implementation, and evaluation of strategic plan and initiatives.
- Model and encourage professional practice that includes nurse autonomy, authority, accountability and responsibility within the department.
- Oversee development and implementation of care delivery model, establishing clear expectations based on standards of care defined by professional and regulatory organizations.
- Execute successfully the established plans and the services through measurement, monitoring, analysis, reporting, and adjusting the direction, allocation and utilization of available resources.
- Consistently apply and deploy the Mission in Motion principles (AIDET, purposeful rounding, huddles, bedside shift reports, 10/5 rule, etc.).
- Strategically establish linkages with other key departments that facilitate the goals of patient care delivery.
- Conduct purposeful counseling and coaching sessions with direct reports for purposes of professional development (e.g., percent of performance appraisals done in a timely fashion, one-to-one standing meetings).
- Identify issues to the Chief Nursing Officer and take an active role in leading the process‑improvement initiative to address opportunities for improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Master’s (MSN) degree preferred or obtained within 2 years of employment.
- Eight years as a practicing RN.
- Three years as a nurse leader in the Labor and Delivery/Women’s Services area.
- Experience in systems‑level leadership.
- Current Maryland State nursing license.
- Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
Candidates must have strong experience and leadership in Labor & Delivery specifically.
Pay Range$ – $
If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.
Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), this position is classified as:United States of America (Exempt)
