Reporting to the Director of 3 South/Intermediate Care Unit, this 30‑bed unit provides care for high‑acuity patients across a wide spectrum of complex specialties. Comorbidities are diverse and patients often require cardiac telemetry monitoring and/or mechanical ventilator support.
- Unit equipped with two negative‑pressure rooms and patient lift assist equipment in all rooms.
- On‑site nurse educator.
- Acute/Critical Care course for nurses new to the acute, in‑patient population.
- The Registered Nurse (RN) will collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient‑centered continuum of care.
- Communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of the patient.
- Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
- Administer medications to patients, provide education, and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
- Assess, monitor, report, and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
- Design, implement, and evaluate patient nursing care plans with the healthcare team.
- Educate patients and families throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.
Licensure/Certification Required
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program; basic professional nursing degree (BSN or MSN) preferred. If BSN is not present at hire, the employee must engage in a basic professional nursing degree program within twelve (12) months of hire.
- Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or respective Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
- Current knowledge of nursing skills and practice.
- Computer and audiovisual skills using various applications: internet, email, word processing.
- Proficiency in reading, speaking, writing, composing, and comprehending English.
- Effective eye and hand coordination.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize information in a rapidly changing environment.
- Effective problem‑solving skills, including organization and prioritization.
- Ability to multi‑task, organize, and prioritize.
- Ability to work well with individuals and groups.
$38.92 – $55.68 per hour (based on experience, skills, and education). Pay may vary within this range based on location. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates.
