Development Coordinator, Major and Principal Giving

Reporting to the VP, Major and Principal Giving, the Development Coordinator supports the VP and other team members in raising and stewarding major and principal-level gifts for Children's National Hospital. This role directly and indirectly interfaces with the institution’s top donors, leaders, and volunteers and also supports international portfolio work. Activities include preparing and writing donor correspondence, organizing donor meetings and tours, database management, international travel planning, donor support, and other administrative functions as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospects and donors.
  • Participate in in-person/virtual visits with donors and prospects under management direction; may be involved in direct solicitation with fundraising goals.
  • Host tours for prospective donors to demonstrate fundraising need and steward prior giving.
  • Manage post-meeting and event donor stewardship and data cleanup.
  • Draft strategic fundraising materials, briefings, and presentations based on independently gathered information.
  • Anticipate and respond to donor and team needs; proactively assist and follow up until needs are met.
  • Evaluate data from Raiser's Edge and online platforms for accuracy, correct errors, and analyze fundraising trends.
  • Coordinate sections of large projects or entire small projects independently.
  • Provide project management support for proposals, stewardship reports, donor communications, business plans, briefings, presentations, agendas, and minutes.
  • Assist in entering and tracking donor information in Raiser's Edge to inform strategy and tactics.
  • Provide high-quality writing and editing assistance on proposals, reports, and correspondence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of related experience in donor engagement, fundraising, or similar field.
  • Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Goal oriented, interpersonal skills, ability to adapt to changing situations, creative thinking, and produce effective results.
  • Stamina, flexibility, courteous, patient, positive, enthusiastic team player.
  • Vehicle required.
  • Availability for some evenings and weekends to attend events.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint; proficiency in Raiser's Edge, Adobe Creative Suite, Donor Drive preferred.
