Job OverviewThe Mechanic Multicraft Mfg is responsible for repairing and maintaining all assets in the production facility. This position responds promptly to equipment breakdowns and repairs machinery in a timely manner, and performs planned and unscheduled work as necessary. This role also provides guidance and training to new personnel at Mechanic I and Mechanic II levels; maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations;
conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed; maintains inventories of equipment, parts, and supplies; anticipates needed equipment, parts, and supplies. The position may involve design improvements and process changes to improve overall production efficiencies as well as programming electrical and electronic equipment.
- Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; follows diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
- Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listens for problems, uses precision measuring, and testing instruments
- Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs; develops job aids and one-point lessons; builds equipment SOPs
- Monitors and maintains multiple pieces of equipment by correctly completing assigned PMs, performing corrective maintenance work orders, filling out all paperwork, work orders, parts usage, and order forms
- Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques, monitoring compliance, and assisting production as needed to keep the line running at top efficiency
- Programs changes and modifications to electronic, electrical equipment to improve overall production
- Trains plant personnel on equipment and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Identify and troubleshoot complex process issues
- Make mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic adjustments
- Preferred ability to read blueprints, electrical prints, and machine schematics
- Ability to comprehend complex processing equipment
- Initiative to further technical expertise
- Experience with Programmable Logic Controls (PLCs) required
- Associate’s degree or up to 3 years of college or technical school
- Knowledge acquired through 5 to up to 7 years of work experience
