Position: TERM Part Time Disease Control Community Health Nurse I/II, Grade 21/24

Overview

Please note: The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be as follows based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

If filled at the Part-Time Community Health Nurse I, Grade 21, the hiring range is $35,278–$43,689 based on 20 hours a week.

If filled at the Part-Time Community Health Nurse II, Grade 24, the hiring range is $40,035–$51,327.50 based on 20 hours a week.

This position is a term position budgeted through June 30, 2026. Continued employment beyond this date is subject to funding extension and is not guaranteed.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Disease Control & Immunization Program is looking for an individual who has a passion for public health and is committed to serving the residents of Montgomery County, not limited to residents of other jurisdictions in Maryland. This individual must have a strong sense of nursing caring elements, including good leadership, communication, and integrity skills. The candidate must be highly motivated to promote immunization efforts, focusing on preventive health, outreach and education.

The part time 20 hours a week Community Health Nurse II will perform nursing duties and tasks of the Immunization Program.

  • Review and assess immunization records
  • Communicate with parents/guardians, vaccine education, administer all vaccines during the Vaccine for Children (VFC) clinic days, Vaccine for Adults, and other vaccination clinics
  • Immunization outreach and education including coordinating vaccination clinics
  • Participate in the MDH yearly Hospital Perinatal Hep B Survey, assist with WIC (immunization records review) and the annual Private School Survey

The selected candidate will be required to successfully complete a medical exam and drug screening.

Community Health Nurse I, Grade 21

Experience: None.

Education: Graduation from a National League for Nursing accredited college or university or an equivalent program as determined by the Maryland Board of Examiners with a Bachelor’s Degree in nursing.

Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

License: Possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland issued by the Maryland Board of Examiners is required. If the license is temporary, a regular Maryland RN license must be obtained within ninety (90) days of appointment.
