Position: Medical Laboratory Scientist I

Medical Laboratory Scientist I – Silver Spring, MD, On-Call (Every other weekend 10:45pm‑7:15am) – Some weekdays may be available.

Pay Range

$30.00 – $40.35 per hour. Employee may be eligible for a 10% shift differential for some or all hours worked on the second shift, and 15% for some or all hours worked on the third shift. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications. Successful candidates may also be eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Responsibilities
  • Follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
  • Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
  • Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
  • Review and release test results.
  • Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in the respective guidelines.
  • Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s established acceptable levels of performance.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, correct the problems encountered or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
Education and Qualifications

BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or an Associate’s degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.

Work Experience

1‑year clinical lab experience (high complexity testing) in a hospital setting required.
