General Summary of Position

The Clinic Assistant (Therapy/ Rehabilitation Technician) performs a variety of clerical and patient care duties essential to daily operations. Duties include, but are not limited to: assisting with medical record operations on a daily basis; greeting, registering, and escorting patients; completing set‑ups and clean‑ups for patient care; turning over patient rooms; performing other patient care duties as determined by the therapist.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adhere to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Comply with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Greet all patients professionally, inform the therapist of patient arrival, and escort patients as needed. Prepare treatment rooms and areas for evaluations and treatment. Be timely and punctual in addressing the needs and expectations of therapists and patients.
  • Assist with patient treatment as directed by therapist and/or provide coverage as appropriate and needed. Under close supervision of a therapist, assist with predetermined well‑defined treatment sessions to include, but not limited to, exercise program, ambulation, transfer activities, balance activities, and preparations for a swallowing study.
  • Routinely stock the linen cabinets and maintain appropriate levels of linen. Empty dirty linen hampers as indicated or as requested by supervisor.
  • Maintain all clinical supply par levels according to established levels and assist in the ordering of new supplies as directed by supervisor. Inform supervisor of patient and clinical system maintenance workflow and other clinical processes on a regular basis.
  • Follow established policies and procedures for cleaning and maintaining all equipment (mat tables, mats, clinic surfaces, paraffin modalities, hot pack machine, etc.). Clean mat tables and all equipment after every use. Assist with ensuring that all equipment is put in its proper place and that the treatment areas and storage rooms are neat and orderly. Report any broken or missing equipment to supervisor.
  • Perform all administrative tasks as assigned, prepare the schedule for the next day, and adhere to schedules to maintain efficient patient care delivery.
  • Answer telephones as needed with the correct salutation and a smile in voice. Complete other administrative assignments or duties as requested.
  • Anticipate any potential safety issues, recognize the need for and request professional assistance with patient condition changes, and communicate effectively with appropriate professionals.
  • Participate in meetings and on committees as requested by supervisor.
Minimal Qualifications Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One (1) year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
Experience
  • Prior work experience not required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • CPR – Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 days required.
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.

  • Customer service skills for interacting with patients, including communicating with patients and family members of diverse ages and backgrounds.
  • Take initiative in following through with all procedures and policies.
  • Effective communication.
  • Must be able to utilize computer systems, software, fax machine, and copier.

This position has a hiring range of USD $18.00 – USD $29.74 /Hr.
