Summary
The Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) will be responsible for performing and reviewing technical security assessments of computing environments to identify vulnerabilities and non-compliance with Information Assurance (IA) standards. This role involves validating system security requirements, establishing security designs, and integrating IA into systems deployed to operational environments. The ISSE will support the building of security architectures, enforce trusted relations among external systems, and assess security threats throughout the program life cycle.
PositionResponsibilities
- Security Engineering Leadership:
Participate as the primary security engineering representative on engineering teams for the design, development, implementation, evaluation, and integration of secure networking, computing, and enclave environments. - System Design:
Perform system or network designs that encompass multiple enclaves, including those with differing data protection or classification requirements. - Policy Application:
Apply knowledge of IA policy, procedures, and workforce structure to design and implement secure environments. - Risk Management:
Support security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management activities. - Compliance & Enforcement:
Support the Government in enforcing the design and implementation of trusted relationships among external systems and architectures. - Requirements Identification:
Identify overall security requirements to ensure the proper handling of Government data. - Collaboration:
Interact effectively with customers and other project team members. - Documentation Review:
Review Certification and Accreditation (C&A) documentation, providing feedback on completeness and compliance with NSA/CSS Information System Certification and Accreditation Process (NISCAP) and DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
- 14+ years of experience as an Information Systems Security Engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
- Four (4) years of additional ISSE experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
- TS/SCI with Polygraph
- CISSP Certification is required.
- DoD 8570.01-M compliance with IASAE Level 2 is required.
Salary Range: $180,000 - $215,000
The AV pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Determination of official compensation or salary relies on several factors including, but not limited to, level of position, job responsibilities, geographic location, scope of relevant work experience, educational background, certifications, contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements, alignment with local internal equity as well as alignment with market data.

ITAR RequirementThis position requires access to information subject to ITAR and/or EAR compliance. To comply, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR and EAR or be approved for an export license by the governing agency.
