Overview
Under the direction of the middle school principal, plans and provides for appropriate learning experiences for adolescent students. Working with interdisciplinary teams, fosters a school culture conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of adolescents to ensure success for every student. Supervises middle school students in a variety of school-related settings. Communicates and collaborates with middle school students, staff, parents, and community.
Develops, selects, and differentiates instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all middle school students. Maintains appropriate records, follows required procedures and practices, and uses data analysis to monitor student achievement. Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. Physical Demands:

Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.
- Plan and provide appropriate learning experiences for adolescent students.

- Maintain records, follow procedures, and use data analysis to monitor student achievement.
- Monitor the use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Knowledge of adolescent development, content expertise, and MCPS curriculum and policies.
- Commitment to high expectations for all learners and belief that all students can learn.
- Ability to use diverse instructional and behavioral management strategies for middle school students; integrate reading, writing, math, and technology across content areas.
- Ability to self-reflect on instructional practices and interactions for continuous improvement.
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and the community.
- Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.
- Commitment to diversity and serving as an advocate, role model, and supporter of diverse learners.
- Knowledge and application of MCPS Teacher Professional Growth System (TPGS) and SEIU SSPGS standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of education from an accredited college or university with knowledge of adolescent learners.
- Certificate:
Meets Maryland state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
