Center Director Job Description

The Center Director will oversee daily center and program operations by:

  • Ensuring that center facility is safe for children and complies with state and local laws and regulations, never leaving the center out of ratio
  • Planning and facilitating professional developments for staff
  • Conducting staff evaluations
  • Translating written and spoken correspondence from English to Spanish and visa versa when necessary
  • Overseeing the proper implementation of program curricula
  • Interviewing, hiring, and training new staff members, ensuring they meet all policies and legal requirements.
  • Completing ongoing training and courses to remain up to date on daycare standards and procedures.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with children, staff and parents
  • Working well as a member of collaborative team focused on positive outcomes
  • Participating in annual calendar events
  • Conducting regular parent tours, reserving one Saturday per month for tours
  • Completing other duties as assigned

Other Requirements:

  • Meet the State Office of Child Care requirements for a director.
  • Possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Practice excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, attitude, and work ethic at all times.
  • Provide two professional references.

Salary is based on experience and education. Daycare leadership experience will be weighed more heavily.

  • Fluent English speaker
  • Proficient Spanish speaker
  • Meet the State Office of Child Care requirements for a director.
