Accounts Payable Specialist – Onsite | Silver Spring, MD
We’re partnering with a reputable organization in Silver Spring, MD to hire a full-time, onsite Accounts Payable Specialist
. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a structured A/P environment, enjoys full-cycle ownership, and is comfortable working with check-run–based processes.
Metro Access: Approximately 0.5 miles from the Silver Spring Metro Station
Compensation: Up to $75K
Industry: Construction (experience helpful but not required)
About the RoleThe Accounts Payable Specialist will handle all aspects of the A/P cycle, including invoice processing, payment runs, vendor relations, and month-end responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Process, review, code, and enter vendor invoices
- Prepare and execute weekly check runs (all payments issued via paper checks)
- Resolve vendor inquiries and invoice discrepancies; maintain vendor records
- Reconcile A/P sub-ledgers to the general ledger
- Support month-end close processes
- Match invoices to purchase orders and maintain documentation
- Assist with annual 1099 preparation
- 2–5 years of Accounts Payable experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Experience with Sage 300/Timber scan is helpful; any ERP background welcome
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
- Experience in the construction industry (job costing, etc.) is a plus, not required
- Experience with an accounting system implementation or conversion is a significant advantage
