Staff Accountant

Overview

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Staff Accountant in Silver Spring, MD.

• General Accounting:
  Assist with month-end and year-end close processes;
  Prepare and post journal entries;
  Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank and credit card accounts;
  Maintain general ledger accuracy in accordance with GAAP.
• Construction Accounting & Job Costing:
  Record and reconcile job costs, including labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment;
  Assist in the preparation and maintenance of WIP schedules;
  Track and reconcile under billings and over billings;
  Review job cost reports and investigate variances.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable Support:
  Process vendor invoices and ensure proper job cost coding;
  Assist with subcontractor compliance and lien waivers;
  Support customer billing, including progress billings and change orders;
  Help manage collections and cash application.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction
• Basic understanding of job costing and WIP concepts
• Proficiency in Excel

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
