Utility Crew SS NIGHTS

Overview

Performs general duties as directed by the room operator.

• Delivers trash and recyclables to the appropriate room and uses a hand-operated pallet jack to move trash gondolas and recyclables to the recycle room.
• Lifts totes into the bailer, operates the machine, and moves bailed product into trailers; organizes recyclables and places non-recycled items into the correct bins.
• Tears down totes and uses the tote dumper to discharge product into the silo; pulls pallets from empty totes and breaks them down; loads into trash gondolas.
• Inspects product on the metal detector and visually checks material when the metal detector alarms, removing offending items.
• Builds totes as directed; visually inspects labels; moves or delivers rejected product from the line; assembles and disassembles items as directed; refers issues to the room operator.
• Performs basic cleanup and maintains cleanliness of the work area.
• Assists in weekly sanitation per procedures; helps prepare cleaning chemicals and ensures correct concentrations and proper loading; demonstrates lock-out tag procedures.
• Participates as a member of the Team; supports BEST practices; attends meetings and fosters team cohesiveness; identifies areas lacking cohesion and works with the team to resolve issues and achieve synergy.
• Understands Simmons operating systems and supports those systems in this position, including communicating concerns and improvement ideas.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

• Physical requirements:
  
  Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs; ability to stand and move around the facility; perform required range of motion; work in a cool environment (down to 40°F) for at least 8 hours; capable of occasional climbing stairs and other physical activities; awareness of loud equipment and wet environments.

  Comfortable with personal computers; grinding experience preferred.

  Preference for poultry or food manufacturing experience.
• Minimum Education:
  
  Must be able to speak and comprehend English.

  High school diploma or equivalent.
