Entry-Level Land Terminal Operator

The Operator position is located at Marathon Pipe Line’s Land Terminal facilities in Long Beach and Signal Hill, California. This position works in and around petroleum products and connecting pipelines executing Operations & Logistics and periodic measurement activities, as well as other duties as assigned. The Operator will facilitate and monitor pipeline and tank movements, conduct product sampling; perform tank switches and cuts;

ensure accordance with all regulations in support of API Product Quality, DOT, Environmental, Safety and Regulatory compliance. Travel, call-outs, and overtime may be required. This is a union represented position with rotating 12-hour shifts (nights, weekends and holidays).

• The Operator will perform tasks associated with pipeline movements and measurements, ensure safe loading/unloading of petroleum products at a truck rack, pipeline delivery/receipts, storage and quality testing of hydrocarbon products; participate in training activities, perform minor maintenance, tank level gauging, terminal product inventories; interact with regulatory agencies/customers to assist in receipt and delivery of product; participate in communicating safety plans and procedures;
  
  assist in emergency response efforts.
• The Operator is required to complete all training and work safely and in an environmentally conscious manner in accordance with Environmental, Safety and Regulatory requirements.

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• An associate’s degree in a technical field preferred.
• Candidates must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Proficiency in basic computer skills is expected.
• Previous pipeline experience is highly preferred.

• Must be able to work in confined spaces for extended periods.
• Physical demands include pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Work at elevated heights.
• Climbing ladders and stairs.
• Bending, squatting, twisting at waist, wrist flexion, and overhead reaching, in addition to seated computer-based work.
