Assistante ou assistant de recherche (50%) / Research assistant (50%)

Le groupe de recherche interdisciplinaire Human‑Centred Computing Group de l’Institut Informatique de la HES‑SO Valais‑Wallis recherche une assistante ou un assistant de recherche pour le projet « Beyond novelty:
Everyday AI use in medical education and practice », financé par le Fonds national suisse (FNS). Le projet porte sur l’usage quotidien des technologies d’intelligence artificielle dans l’enseignement médical et les pratiques cliniques en analysant comment ces outils sont intégrés dans l’enseignement, l’apprentissage et la prise de décision au CHUV. Le lieu de travail principal se trouvera à Sierre (VS).

Votre Mission

• Préparer et organiser des données empiriques (par ex. enregistrements vidéo, notes de terrain).
• Transcrire et traduire des données audiovisuelles à l’aide de logiciels spécialisés.
• Contribuer aux revues de littérature et à la gestion bibliographique.
• Aider à la préparation de publications scientifiques et de présentations.
• Assurer un soutien administratif, organisationnel et technique à l’équipe de recherche.

Votre Profil

• Master en cours ou achevé en sociologie, anthropologie, informatique, sciences de la communication, sciences de l’éducation ou dans un domaine apparenté.
• Connaissances des méthodes de recherche qualitatives, en particulier des approches ethnographiques.
• Maîtrise orale et écrite du français et de l’anglais.
• Excellentes compétences en communication et sens aigu du détail.
• Connaissances en ethnométhodologie, analyse conversationnelle ou sociologies interprétatives.
• Expérience dans le traitement de données audiovisuelles et l’utilisation de logiciels de transcription.
• Intérêt pour l’aspect social de la technologie, du domaine médical et de la formation.

We are seeking two postdoctoral researchers to join our team for the project “Beyond novelty:
Everyday AI use in medical education and practice”, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Position Description

• Conduct ethnographic fieldwork in medical education and clinical settings.
• Collect, organise, and analyse qualitative data, including audiovisual materials.
• Contribute to scientific publications and conference presentations.
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary research teams at HES‑SO Valais‑Wallis and CHUV.
• Participate in project meetings, dissemination activities, and academic events.

Selection criteria

• PhD in sociology or a related field (e.g., science and technology studies, educational sciences, pedagogy, human–computer interaction, anthropology, sociolinguistics), with a strong interest in technology, healthcare, and/or AI.
• Alternatively, PhD in computer science or a related technical field with a strong background and serious interest in the social sciences.
• Familiarity with key theoretical and methodological approaches in the field.
• Ability to conduct fieldwork independently and to produce scientific publications and conference presentations.
• Excellent command of English, spoken and written.
• Experience in ethnomethodological and/or conversation‑analytic research, particularly in healthcare, higher education, or technology‑related contexts.
• Good command of French (CEFR level B1 or higher).
