UAS; Unmanned Aircraft System Flight Instructor - Gray Eagle

Pinnacle Solutions, an Akima company, is seeking a UAS Instructor Operator - Gray Eagle to work in Sierra Vista, Arizona. The candidate will provide instruction in academics, flight simulators, and live flight operations to train personnel in the operation of the Gray Eagle UAS. • Conduct procedures for takeoff, landing, and tactical employment of the Gray Eagle UAS.
• Teach fundamentals and application of Air Crew Coordination.
• Explain capabilities, emergency procedures, limitations, and system logic of the Gray Eagle UAS and its payloads.
• Train on Gray Eagle UAS Missions including reconnaissance, surveillance, security, and attack missions.
• Instruct on Mission Planning and approval processes including METTTC, Risk Assessment, and Performance Planning.
• Educate on Army reporting formats like SALUTE, SALTW, and BDA, and familiarize with restricted and D-class airspace and ATC phraseology.
• Configure system radios for flight operations and communications relay; teach map reading techniques for UAS operations.
• Cover fundamentals of laser safety, types of lasers on payloads, employment, and effective utilization during missions.
• Introduce concepts of Combat Vehicle Identification and familiarization with US, Allied, and Threat equipment.
• Discuss military Symbology and target identification to prevent fratricide.
• Familiarize with joint procedures for Call for Indirect Fire and Laser Designation for Hellfire missiles.
• Apply regulations and standards such as AR 95-1, TC 3-04.11, TC 3-04.3, AR 40-8, TC 3-04.93, DA PAM 738-751, and maintenance logbook software.
• Explain concepts of Decisive Action and UAS roles in various operational environments.
• Support the commander’s tactical decision-making with situational awareness information through IPB processes.
• Cover basic aviation IFR topics including regulations, instruments, weather, and flight planning.

• Qualification in Gray Eagle MQ-1C UAS.
• Minimum of four years’ operational flying experience post-qualification within the last five years.
• At least 200 hours on Gray Eagle.
• 20 hours as an aircraft Commander (AC) or equivalent experience as an Instructor Operator with AC designation.
• System qualification/verification via Army Qualification Certificates, DD214, DA 7122, OEM qualifications, and DCMA certifications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a flight physical per AR 95-20.
• Successful completion of evaluations including TRADOC instructor evaluations, academic evaluations, no-notice evaluations, DES evaluations, PFEs, and SFEs.

• Graduate of an IO course.
• Recency of flight: 12 hours as AC within the last 12 months.
