Summary

Provide leadership, organize and monitor the flow of goods being loaded and unloaded from the trucks. Provide training for dock personnel and close monitoring of safety procedures and policies.

  • Assists Retail Operations Manager in managing the flow of goods.
  • Train and supervise employees in procedures.
  • Model excellent customer service both internally and externally.
  • Effectively utilize email and telephone, if applicable, to ensure communications are read and responded to in an appropriate timeframe.
  • Complete reports accurately as assigned.
  • Unloads or loads trucks at dock.
  • Helps to load trucks on pick-up routes.
  • Sorts merchandise into containers for processing and distribution.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working area inside and outside of dock.
  • May be required to utilize CDL on occasion.
  • Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards throughout work areas and maintain same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Dock Workers, Balers, and Truck Helpers.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education Requirements

  • Minimum High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • CDL License Class A and current Medical Examiner's Certificate with an insurable driving record of the past 2 years
  • (4 points or less) preferred.

Experience Requirements

  • Must have the ability to use a pallet jack, two-wheel dolly, and four wheeled carts.
  • Must be able to sort and pack merchandise for safe storage or transport.

  • Employee must maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill's liability insurance provider. If at any time the employee is unable to maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to GESMV’s liability insurance provider, they must immediately notify Human Resources.
  • Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.

Skills & Abilities

Able to load and unload trucks of merchandise including clothing, household goods, furniture and appliances.
