What we are Looking For

We are seeking a detail‑oriented, patient‑centered Surgery Scheduler to join our team. This role is responsible for coordinating all aspects of surgical scheduling while ensuring a positive patient experience. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable handling both clinical coordination and the financial components associated with surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities Surgical Scheduling & Coordination
  • Schedule surgical procedures for multiple providers.
  • Communicate surgery details clearly with patients, providers, surgical and ancillary departments.
  • Ensure all pre‑operative requirements (labs, imaging, clearances, prior authorizations) are completed.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date surgery schedules and documentation.
  • Provide patients with pre‑ and post‑operative instructions.
Financial Coordination
  • Complete insurance benefit verification for upcoming surgical procedures.
  • Coordinate and secure financial estimates for patients, ensuring they understand their financial obligations.
  • Request prior authorizations for procedures and monitor status until completion.
  • Communicate potential out‑of‑pocket costs to patients in advance and address financial questions.
  • Collaborate with billing and revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate coding and charge entry.
  • Work with patients on payment arrangements when applicable in accordance with policy.
Patient Interaction & Communication
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding surgical logistics and financial expectations.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and compassionate communication.
  • Manage high call volume and maintain timely follow‑up.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have strong customer service skills, be able to work independently, possess strong organizational skills, have the ability to collaborate with clinical and clerical employees, and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Medical Assistant training or Medical Office training preferred.
  • Computer experience is required.
  • Leading candidates will have had prior scheduling experience, financial counseling, and insurance experience.
