Family Practitioner​/General Practitioner

Overview

An exciting opportunity to join our expanding primary care network in Sidney. The practitioner will be the most responsible primary care provider for a minimum patient panel as described in the NTP FP Contract. We have opportunities in maternity and palliative care. We offer a team-based approach to primary care with collaboration among network doctors to cover clinic hours and participate in community hospital care at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital.

This team is part of a larger Saanich Peninsula Primary Care Network with additional resources – RN, Pharmacist, MH Clinicians, and Social Workers.

• Be the most responsible primary care provider for a minimum patient panel as described in the NTP FP Contract.
• Collaborate with network doctors to cover clinic hours and participate in community hospital care at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital.
• Participate in after-hours care for patients attached to the practitioner and for other patients of the clinic.
• On-call for the clinic on a rotating schedule for one week at a time, managing the after-hours line for Shoreline Medical and the Sidney call line. On-call rotation aligns with the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Doctor of the Day rotation (approximately every eight weeks).

  Patient home visits, Doctor of the Day, Fast Track Program and Long Term Care visits are outside of this contract.
• Clinic management is provided by the Shoreline Medical Society, a non-profit organization focused on patient-centred care and hospital/community continuity of care.

The town of Sidney, population 11,600, is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, about 20 kilometers north of Victoria. The area offers schools, tourism, dining, and local events such as the Sidney Market and the Sidney Fine Arts Show.

Compensation Type:
Clinical Service Contract

Overhead:
Overhead negotiated with clinic; NTP contract includes $75,000 overhead to be paid to physician to pay to clinic, physician to pay any remainder.
