Machine Operator

Job Purpose

*** NEW STARTING PAY *** First Shift position operating machines that allow us to break down railcar wheelsets, recondition axles to be used for new sets, mount new wheels to reconditioned axles, recondition wheelsets, move material and press new bearings on wheelsets that have been reconditioned or new sets. Attention to detail is very important in this line of work as these sets are put under trains that travel the nation and they need to be worked properly so they allow the trains to travel safely.

• Operate overhead cranes.
• Operate machines to break down railcar wheelsets, recondition axles, mount new wheels, recondition wheelsets, move material, and press new bearings.
• Work any shift, overtime and weekends to meet business demands.
• Maintain a good attendance record.
• Follow all work procedures and maintain accurate documentation.
• Abide by all safety regulations and safe work practices.
• Complete production reports with accuracy.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Basic shop math.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Use measuring devices such as gages and calipers.
• Read micrometers and work to tight tolerances.
• Ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and write legibly.
• Team player and quality oriented.
• Flexible shift and schedule, including overtime and weekends.
