Bexley Swimming Club in London is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Lead Squad Swimming Coach to deliver high-quality coaching to our development-level swimmers. Working closely with the Head Coach and coaching team, you will help implement a structured training programme, support swimmers at training and competitions, and promote a positive, inclusive, and competitive club environment.
The role is part-time, poolside-based with some administrative duties, and offers a competitive, negotiable rate depending on experience. Ideal candidates will hold relevant Swim England coaching and lifesaving qualifications, demonstrate strong communication skills, and show a passion for developing swimmers both in and out of the pool.
Location: Bexley – Sidcup, Bexleyheath, Mottingham
Working Hours: Part-time (administration away from poolside; additional attendance at galas expected)

Qualifications:
Water Safety:
- RLSS National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches (NRASTC)
- RLSS National Pool Lifeguard Qualification
Coaching:
- Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate or ASA Level 2 Award
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a high-quality coaching programme that meets the needs of swimmers at development level
- Work collaboratively with other coaches to deliver effective and engaging training sessions
- Report directly to the Head Coach, provide regular feedback and contribute positively as part of the coaching team, including selection of League teams.
- Attend and support swimmers at competitions, League meets, and galas
- Encourage and promote competitive participation among swimmers
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations and demonstrate a commitment to continuing professional development
- Provide cover and increase hours when required, including coaching the Masters squad
- Follow and actively promote Swim England’s Wavepower safeguarding policy
Requirements and Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of health and safety in a swimming pool environment
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate about developing swimmers both as athletes and individuals
- Relevant coaching experience within appropriate swimming disciplines
- Punctual, reliable, and committed to the club’s values and long-term goals
- Ability to communicate effectively with swimmers, parents, coaches, and committee members
- Completion of Swim England Safeguarding and Protecting Children training (or willingness to complete prior to starting)
- Full UK driving licence (preferable)
