Job Description:
Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Band 6 Locum Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join the Bexley and Bromley Learning Disability Teams at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup. This role involves providing specialist speech and language therapy services to adults with learning disabilities within an acute setting.

What your responsibilities will be for this Speech and Language Therapy role?

As a Band 6 Locum Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist you will be responsible for delivering expert assessment and intervention for adults with learning disabilities, addressing complex speech and language needs. Your key duties will include conducting thorough evaluations, developing and implementing tailored therapy plans, and monitoring patient progress to ensure effective outcomes. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide integrated care, and your role may involve liaising with families and carers to support therapeutic goals.

Although the position is primarily focused on assessment and intervention, flexibility in working hours and part-time options may be considered to accommodate your availability. As part of the Bexley and Bromley Learning Disability Teams, you will need to adapt to various clinical needs and provide high-quality, patient-centred care.

Key Requirements:

  • Relevant qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Experience in working with adults with learning disabilities
  • Strong clinical skills in assessment and intervention
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Flexibility in working hours and part-time availability considered
  • HCPC Registered
