About the role
As a Technical Labourer, you'll provide essential support to our aircraft maintenance teams, ensuring aircraft, components and spares are prepared, moved and stored safely and efficiently. You'll work with in the Aviation Maintenance Support Unit (AMSU), supporting technicians, logistics activities and flight-line operations to help maintain operational readiness.
Responsibilities- Assist with preparing aircraft for storage and supporting maintenance teams.
- Prepare aircraft parts for examination and spares for despatch.
- Carry out supply transactions for movement of aircraft spares across units.
- Complete driving tasks to support AMSU output, including aircraft towing (once qualified).
- Record daily data in the JAMES ground support equipment database.
This role is full time working an average of 38 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Shawbury, Shropshire. Weekly hours may vary depending on operational needs but will balance out across the month.
Qualifications- Understanding of working within a Part-145 aircraft maintenance environment.
- Awareness of aircraft maintenance team operations and airfield procedures.
- Understanding of POL (Petrol, Oil and Lubricants) and COSHH requirements within aircraft maintenance environments.
- Ability to work safely and effectively within an operational airfield environment.
- Full UK driving licence.
- MJDI qualification (desirable).
- Forklift Operator certification (desirable).
- Dangerous Goods (Air & Road) qualification (desirable).
- JAMES operator experience (desirable).
